How Ask MoonCycle handles a crisis

Ask MoonCycle is an AI, not a person, a doctor or a therapist, and it is not an emergency service. Before a question reaches the AI, MoonCycle checks it for signs of suicidal thoughts, self-harm, an eating disorder, harm to others or another crisis. If it finds one, it does not answer with AI text. It shows a fixed card, written by people, with the crisis and emergency numbers that fit, such as 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in the United States) and 911. The AI is also instructed to stop and show that card if a crisis comes up later in a chat. We count how many cards were shown each day, with no link to any person or phone.
